Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral?

No. You do not need a referral to see a physiotherapist.

We are happy to be your first point of call for any injury, condition, or physical goals that you need to have assessed.

If you have been referred to us by your doctor or any other third party, please bring your referral and any relevant paperwork such as NDIS or workers compensation details.

What do I need to bring or prepare for my first appointment?

  1. Any relevant medical information related to your injury e.g. referral, scans, medical reports etc.

  2. Wear clothing and footwear suitable for movement/exercise or visual assessment of your injury e.g. wear shorts for a knee injury or a singlet for a shoulder injury.

  3. Think about what space in the house would be most suitable for your appointment and ensure this space is clear ahead of your appointment (if you are able to). There should ideally be enough space to move around in freely to fit a treatment table.

What should I expect in my first appointment?

During your first appointment your physiotherapist will:

  • Conduct a thorough examination including history taking and a physical assessment.

  • Give you a diagnosis of your condition or impairments.

  • Create a detailed management plan to target your condition, impairments, and goals.

Treatment may include mobility exercises, strength training, balance training, manual therapy.

So be prepared to move!

If you have not exercised in a while, if you have poor mobility, strength, or balance, or if you have any other concerns such as pain or a fear of falls, please be reassured that your are the exact type of patient that we cater for. Treatment is always tailored to the individual needs of the patient.

Can I claim physiotherapy on my health fund?

Yes. We will charge you the entire cost of the visit and provide you a copy of the invoice.

You can claim the visit on your health fund, where they will refund you a partial amount of the visit. The gap payment is dependent on your level of extras cover and the amount of physiotherapy you have used per calendar year.

Do you take NDIS clients?

Yes, we take both children and adults on the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

Patients should be on a self managed or plan managed fund. If you or your child do not have a self or plan managed fund, please contact us to speak to a treating therapist and we can discuss options to accommodate you.

How many treatment sessions will I need?

The total number of treatment sessions you need as well as the frequency of each session will be variable depending on your type of injury, complexity of pain and work/sporting commitments. On your initial consultation your therapist will give you a rough estimate of number and frequency of sessions required to get you to your goal.
